At first, what we were told was that the Federal Government of Nigeria’s N-power initiatives, was to recruit and empower five hundred thousand (500,000) Nigerian youths, from the age of 22 to 35. Well, while that plan has not changed, it seems most people’s anticipated method of achieving the above has, especially mine.
At first, my guesses were that Npower.gov.ng, were just going to open it portal, and swallow 500,000 Nigeria youths in just a single intake. So I was busy expecting a list of 500,000 youths, but unfortunately we only saw 200,000. That of course, is a huge number already, but was not even up to half the plan. Then there was a promise of a Batch B list, which should of course, make up the 300,000 remnants.
But even that, has been proven wrong, you know why? Npower.gov.ng has opened it portal for new registration, which means even if the 300,000 remnants will be empowered, the list will not come from the 2016 candidates alone, which sound ultimately fair, especially for potential Nigerian youths, and volunteers, who might not be ready as at 2016, when the first registration took place.
But there are above Ten million Nigerians who registered in 2016, and only 200,000 youths have been shortlisted so far, so does that mean that the remaining Nine million+ will not be considered at all? Keep reading!
Will there be a batch B list for N-power candidates of 2016?
Great question huh? Since Npower.gov.ng has now opened it portal for new intakes, will there be a second list for N-power candidates or volunteers that register back in 2016?
Well, the answer to that question is a resounding YES! As a matter of facts, as at writing this article, the Admins over at N-power has already began sending out SMS to some of the volunteers who registered back in 2016. Look at image below:
So certainly yes, there’ll be a batch B for 2016 candidate, I mean there is already a batch B for volunteers of 2016. But what does this mean to volunteers, who registered in 2016, and have not been shortlisted, or received the above SMS?
What should you do?
So you’ve applied back in 2016, but you’ve not been shortlisted, neither have you received the above SMS, what should you do? Should you keep waiting for the full list of 2016 batch B shortlisted candidates, or should you apply for the ongoing intakes? Well, here are few things we think you should do;
- Ensures that the phone number you registered with back in 2016 is still reachable, and can receive SMS. Currently, the only means through which 2016 candidates are notified, is by direct SMS, so ensure that the phone number used in completing the 2016 registration is still available, and can receive SMS.
- Do not wait until the ongoing registration closes before you act: This is what I mean; if you are yet to be shortlisted, then you are hurting nobody if you register for the ongoing intake again, you aren’t even hurting yourself, but the contrary is the case. So head over to the official program portal, and apply.
